Process

Vision Meeting

Calvert Design Studio meets with the client to discuss the overall ‘vision’ of the project. Whether it is a single family dwelling or a large multi-family project, we review and discuss through the project requirements, formulate a schedule, establish the budget criteria and review the preferred suppliers while assessing the level of project management required.

Design Direction and preliminary concepts

CDS will develop the project’s vision and concept through sketches/images and suggested product samples of the design intent to initiate the project direction. The project’s initial vision will take form through a design process that captures the client’s tastes, needs and goals, along with the desired design aesthetic.

Architectural LAYOUT

CDS reviews the architectural plans to ensure that optimal functionality and creative design desires are incorporated into the technical drawing package. Once the parameters for the project are determined, we begin the project programming and concept development phase.

interior Design Specifications and drawings

CDS selects and documents all finishes and fixtures while simultaneously creating a detailed specification package. This package creates a professional document for the construction process to be carried through as a steering wheel for all members of the active team to collaborate and create effectively and efficiently. These drawings include detailed floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections and necessary millwork drawings.
